Creating FrontPage tasks helps keep your site organized, especially
if you're creating a site with coworkers. Associating a file with a
task lets you quickly see what needs to be done, allowing you to jump
to the page to start the task. Here's how to create a task:
1. Open your web and choose File + Open FrontPage Web.
2. Select your web from the Getting Started dialog box and click OK.
3. Click the All Files icon on the Views bar.
4. Right-click a file and choose Add Task.
5. In the New Task dialog box, enter the task name.
6. Type a person's name in the Assigned To box.
7. Select a priority (High, Medium, or Low).
8. Create a note in the Description text box (for example, "Update the
logo" or "Fire the 'designer' who created this page").
9. Click OK.
Yesterday, we explained how to create a new task and associate it
with a file. Today, we explain how to work on the task:
1. Click the Tasks icon from the Views bar (running down the left
pane of the FrontPage window).
2. Right-click the task and choose Do Task.
3. The page opens in the FrontPage Editor. Complete the task and close
the page.
In our next tip, making sure others know the task has been
completed.
This week we've been discussing FrontPage tasks and associating
them with files. Here are some of the things you can do in Tasks view
(to jump to Tasks view, click the Tasks icon from the Views bar):
* To modify a task, right-click the task and choose Edit.
* To show that you've completed a task, right-click the task and
choose Mark Complete. The task icon changes from a red circle to a
green one. (The next time you go to Tasks view, the completed task
will not appear.)
* To remove a task, right-click it and choose Delete.
By default, Tasks view displays only the tasks you have not yet
completed. To view a list of all tasks, just right-click a blank area
of the view and choose Task History. Both future and past tasks
appear.
The FrontPage Explorer has a Task View that lets you make and see a
list of the work needed for your web site. You can sort this list by:
* Status
* Task name
* Assignment (who is supposed to do it)
* Priority
* Link
Just click on the title above any of those columns to sort on that
aspect. Click again to re-sort, on the same aspect but in reverse
order (ascending or descending).
