Setting up a network printer can be a real nightmare, but is much worse when that printer is attached to a Dlink Router with printer support or even when attached to another system. 

Below are step by step instructions along with screenshot of how to set up a network print in Solaris.

  1. Enter in to the Printer administration
  2. Enter the hostname of your system
  3. You should select "Files" on this screen
  4. Select "Attach new network printer"
  5. In printer name, use "lp" <LP> in lowercase ONLY
  6. type in the description of the printer (makes on difference what you put there.
  7. Select the type of printer, and model
  8. use BSD only TCP rarely works
  9. Click "ok" which will bring you back to the printer admin screen
